They have hanging ears and a triangular muzzle. A Shih-Poo’s coat can come in a variety of colors. Disposition Shih-Poos are known to be a quiet and obedient breed. Although its bark can be louder than A Shih Tzu, they are not typically “yappers”. Due to their size, Shih-Poos are typically known to be shy towards strangers. Shih-Poos are also loyal, loving, and affectionate. Hybrids, or crosses, aim to eliminate the health problems associated with deeply inbred purebreds while providing the best of both breeds involved in the cross. Average Weight: 8-15 lbs. Personality Traits: Friendly, intelligent, playful The ideal Shih-poo is sturdy, compact, and solid. They should be well-proportioned in appearance and possess a lively and keen expression. The Shih-poo requires frequent brushing to prevent matting and tangling and occasional professional grooming. Bathing should be done when necessary. It is important to regularly clean the ears of debris and hair to prevent infection. The Shih-poo's have a low tolerance to extreme heat and cold. Dental hygiene is important to prevent early tooth loss. This is recommended with any pet. The Shih-poo is well suited for apartment living. They are relatively active indoors and should have a variety of safe toys to keep them occupied. Shih-poo's enjoy family play sessions, securely leashed walks, and off-lead play time in a fenced yard.
